I'm not saying it's a medical device or anything and if you have a bad back you probably need to talk to your doctor, but for me, its helped give that extra support I need when I've got my legs wrapped around my special guy. The texture of the material keeps you from sliding off of it, and it doesn't take all that long to inflate if you have an air pump so you can deflate and store it where the kids wont see it between uses.
